Results

Results are a big thing for us. Like I've said before I want the magic formula, key, wand...all the above to help my child become the best he can be. I have never once told Hunter that he is different, or broken. We don't refer to his therapies as "fixing" him. We always say we are "fine tuning" the engine. He's an amazing boy and his not broken at all.
THERAPY
We see a therapist every other week to work on ways to control anger and calm down. This therapy has been amazing as far as I'm concerned. We have learned some wonderful tools for calming down and not letting things "bother" Hunter. I think this will always be a working progress because of the ISD. He's disorder is never going to disappear, it's only going to get better and be manageable. He's always going to be warmer then others, and more then likely will never like long sleeve shirts, but he will be able to live with these things and they won't be so life altering.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY(OT)
We LOVE OT!!! I had to throw that in there. I feel like we've seen so many results with OT and even in a short time. The things that we are really working on it OT, is core strength, balance, eye control, hand control, flexibility.
Because of the ISD Hunter's muscles haven't developed to their full potential. He's not as strong as other children his age. Gravity pushes on his harder then the rest of us, so he gets tired faster and gives up sooner. Since starting OT, Hunter has learned to ride his bike, this is amazing to us! He is so happy about it and we are all proud of him for accomplishing such a wonderful thing. His hand writing has improved and he just brought home an assignment with a note that said, "beautiful handwriting" I can't wait to see what more OT will bring.
PHYSICAL THERAPY (PT)
We just started PT last week, he has only had one session. The reason for us attending PT, is mostly his ankles. I was concern because they were always so sore and almost stuck...they don't move and bend like most ankles do. Due to the lack of balance and stability Hunter has been locking his joints since he was little. Because he was locking them he was relying mosting on his ligaments and tendon to stabalize him verses his muscles. We have been doing exercises to help strengthen the muscle and also stretch out the ligaments that have shortened from lack of use. The PT will also start working on balance, stability and strenghtening all at once.
CHIROPRACTIC
I have been blessed to work for an amazing chiropractor that treats more in depth then a "regular" chiropractor. Because of this treatment I have been bringing Hunter for adjustments for over a year, these particular adjustments help fire the nerves on one side of this brain to help both sides "talk" to each other. He also uses an interactive metronome (IM) this is an amazing machine that stimulates his brain and fires the nerves to the brain to not only "calm" him down, but also help the brain communicate with the rest of his body. We're getting rid of the roadblocks standing in his way.
